Ok so I have just returned my angelfish back to the community tank after his prolapse and I was sitting watching him settle back in feeling please I actually managed to get a fish out of the hospital tank alive (my boyfriend has started to call it the death tank) when I noticed one of my cory cats is flicking :crazy: . Now I know this is some sort of internal thing but I can't remember what.. was it gill flukes?

Anyway could someone remind me what it is the symptom for? How to treat? And is it contagious (should i treat whole tank)? Also prognosis?

Ammonia= 0
Nitrite= 0
Nitrate= 40 (this is the level in the tap water as well)
pH= 8
Tank= 200l
Stocking= see sig.

No meds or any chemicals added to the tank.

Thanks!

Also just looked in my tank again and 1 of my other corys was lying on his back, I fished him out and he is spiralling when he tries to swim. Think i'm just gonna euthanise him as i have to go to work not and he looks very uncomfortable.

This same thing happened to another of my catfish about a month ago... anyone know what it is??

Corys cats can flick now and them.
The can spiral when there dying.
Sorry about your problems never rains but pours.

Gill flukes sign are as follows.
red inflamed to bleeding gills, or pale with excess mucas on them.
Laboured breathing.
Flicking and rubbing against objects.
Flukes can cause weight loss.
Spitting good out.
Looking pale and lethagic.
Sores on the body of the fish,
With flukes fish can swm in a jerky movement.,

Fish look ok other than flicking, do you think that it's not an internal parasite then? Also my angel (the one recently returned) now has a small white dot on him, it's not attached to him but just follows him moving about his body... any idea what this is? Do fish get fleas?

Thanks again Wilder, these fish are driving me crazy!

Does the dot have any legs, as there fish louse it's disc shaped with legs.

They can flick with internal parsites.
Sign of internal parsites are
Long stringy white poo, clear looking poo, some red in the poo.
Being thin or bloated.
Enlarged anus, or swollen red inflamed anus.
Worms prutruding from the anus.

Nope no legs that I can see just white dot. Corys don;t ahve any of those symptoms so maybe it was just a 1 off (still don't know why my other catfish died though this am) I just did a 50% water change and after moving the whole tank around I'm 99.9% sure my frogs are missing have searched the area all round the tank but can't find them anywhere!

It's frustrating because most fish keepers get it all wrong, don't cycle, never test their water etc. yet i'm doing everything right and i spend so much time caring for them yet still it's 1 problem after another :(

On the positive side normally I euthanise with clove oil which there are so many debates about but i decided to bite the bullet and get the baseball bat giving my cory a VERY quick and painless death so now i know i can do it my fish can have nicer deaths if they are going to keep dying on me!

Corys are more prone to bacterial infections.
Look for signs of being pale or darker in colour, listless not eating.
Check there barbels over to see if there not short and thin,
Make sure the corys don't look bloated or have sores on there bodies.
