I got brine shrimp to feed to my african clawed frogs and I thought my Kuhlii loach might eat some. Anyway I got 1 portion which must be about 500 Brine shrimp. I took my brine shrimp net and scooped out a large amount. My loach is being stupid and sitting on the bottem as usual. My frogs will eat them but only if they are smacked across the face with them. These brine shrimp wont foul up my water will they? Will they all get eaten tonight when my frogs and loach are MUCH more active.

Hi there. It is possible that they foul the water, if any are not eaten within a few hours. They origionate from brackish water, and do not do so well in freshwater (a few hours life max once introduces to fresh water). The bodies will be removed by your prefilter though, so removal is simply a case of cleaning your filter in the morning. In future, try to feed brine shrimp, when your fish are most active, so that they are all eaten before they have a chance to die off.

Thanks I know that now. I think about 25-50% were sucked into the filter while the rest were eaten soo.. I'll just clean my filter.

For a start Brineshrimp are a total saltwater organism and will die shortly after placing in freshwater therefore if not eaten within 1/2 an hour will start to foul your tank. You dont say what other species of fish are in that tank (most will feed in brineshrimp even small neons) but even if its only the clown loach and the frogs then 500 livebrineshrimp at one sitting is a big ask!!!! As with all good tank husbandry syphon out any uneaten BS and detrius clean the filter in the usual manner (roughly clean the sponges in a bucket of tank water) and finally perform a 10% waterchange.
