Are you suppose to gravel vaccum heavaly planted tanks? And if not, how do you clean things up?

I have not hoovered my heavily planted tank for a year, the mulm etc acts as a cracking fertiliser

It doesnt look too bad for it really

2 years now with out a vac not that i can anyway.
only my tank that is not planted

I think it is impossible to clean a hevily tank, unless u want unroot all the plants. so i never clean it.

I mostly vacuum the foreground plants- stuff like dwarf hairgrass, baby tears, glosso as well as other fine leaved plants tend to be debris traps. I use a HOT Magnum as my tank vac since it does not suck as hard as typical syphons. It also lets me vac slowly and carefully for as long as is needed without worrying about the water level.
