Are They Breeding?

I bought two females and one male platy from the petshop and then two days after one of the females gave birth. I really don't know which one it was because I couldn't see the gravid spot and doesn't seem like any of them have them become thinner.When the fry grow up will I be able to see who the mother was considering that the one female is a redtail and the other is a mickey mouse.

Anyway, now the male is now chasing Diva, my Redtail Platy around and I was wondering if he was trying to breed with her are just being mean. I was also wondering if it's normal for him to play favorites. He doesn't really pay any attention to the other female.

When mating the male usually nuzzles the females back end (cough cough ), he then darts forward trying to insert his gonpendium (if thats how its spelt).

It is normal hes picked one female, as soon as hes done he'll move onto the next

As for the father of the babies, it could be anyone if you only just bought them from the store

In what way is he chasing her? Very aggressively or just following? It's most likely mating though.

Also, you may not be able to tell which mother it is, depending on the father's genetics. They may be dominant. However, there might be a few traits in there that could lead you to the mother. Just don't count on them looking exactly like her.

He'll notice her and just kinda dart at her, then he'll keep darting till she's behind some plants or something. How long exactly should it last? Thanks for the help.

That's probably mating then.

The male's whole life. No, eventually he should realize they are all pregnant, but then you deal with the issue of him trying to stress her out to abort fry. Once she has her fry...it starts all over again.
