These were given to me by the previous owner of the tank. Most of them including the turquoise and mauve coloured ones are polished so I assume they are OK. The two on the far right are oddities though. The white one looks like quartz, and isnt polished. The reddy brown one is stranger still, looks like weathered brick but not quite.

What do you think?

Most of them look like the biorb stones which are for aquariums but to be on the safe side add a few drops of vinegar to each to see if they corode or not.

If they dont give them a good clean and pop in the tank :good:

The pointed green one at the very top appears to be a piece of aventurine! The purple ones may be amethyst...but I doubt it. The colour is just too OTT to be quite natural. You've got a few pieces of quartz there though. That's a safe stone for a tank, I've seen people use rose quartz in tanks before.

Thanks. I will use the quartz. Is adventurine safe??? Ive never heard of it before

I'm not sure. I've never seen or heard of it being used in a tank before. But do the vinegar drip test and if nothing happens it should be fine I guess, it's polished and not raw so I'd say that would help. If you still aren't sure then leave it out and stick with the quartz. Granite is also a good inert (non reactive ) rock to use in tanks. I've always liked it's black and white mottled appearance.
