Just checking what I have as bought the tank second hand and the owner didn't know. Are they siamese algea eaters? If the pic doesn't show enough details, the fins are a yellow colour with rid tipped tail.

If they are I take it they are not agressive like the chinese algea eaters?

they look like SAE'S to me, but ive never seen that redish color on other ones tho

They are Not Siamese Algea Eaters.
They are False Siamese Algea Eaters, The Red Markings around the mouth and the yellow tinge to the Fins Indicate this.

i thought they looked a bit weird, thnx for clearing that up gill

Thats handy to know, I wasn't sure but was guessing by looking at pictures. I have seen familiar ones in the fish shop called Siamese Stone Lapping Fish.

I have one of these guys. I bought him as a "Flying Fox," but I now know that he is not. Anyway, he is very interesting, zooming round and round the aquarium 24/7. When they get bigger, they get fat! I love mine and never regret getting him! :good:

PS: I got mine when he was barely an inch... now he's close to 4. :D

"False Flying Fox"

One of my favorite fish ever.

But you should only have 1. later they fight unless you have like, 40+g for territory, and then just 2.

But still..

Great fish :good: :good: :good: :good: :good: :good:

They can get up to 6 inches, and will be agressive to anything of "Shark shape" like itself, RTBS, Rainbow sharks, and so on.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread, but really love the look of that fish...

would one of these live happily with the following in a 40g?:

Opaline Gourami
Angel fish
7 neons
3 harlequin
2 zebra loaches
& 2 bristlenose?

it's planted, so are they herbivores too?

Thanks in advance,

Paul.
