Are Rams Good To Start

I am starting an aquarium, and i would like to have rams in it. There is a guy down the road who says they are not good starting fish. but i love them .
Does anyone think that they are not suitable of should i go for them anyway

Hes right. they arent good starting fish. theyre sensetive and need soft, acidic water.
I know they are beautiful, but try resist them for their sake and your happiness hehe.
