Fish Crazy
Hi everyone
edit: just realised it wasnt 12/13 hours - it was only 6/7 hours!
My water results have been looking quite good the last few days, so I decided to test again about 6 hours later today to see where things are. This morning my readings were:
ammonia - 0.25, nitrite - 2, nitrate - 8
I added 6.6ml of 9.5% ammonia (to raise to approx 6ppm) and 8 hours later (got up a bit late
) my readings are:
ammonia - 1, nitrite - 1, nitrate - 8
Now I know some ammonia and nitrate will be absorbed by the plants, but seeing as its got rid of most of the ammonia in 8 hours, and cleared all the nitrites that were there this morning plus the nitrites made by clearing the ammonia, does this mean my bacteria are processing nitrite faster than ammonia?
what I dont seem to be getting is the rising nitrites with a sudden drop - they seem to be up and down quite a bit each day, so I assume I already have a reasonable number of n-bacs already?
edit: could the lack of nitrates appearing be the reason my plants are looking healthier than they were a week ago? lol
thanks all
