Are My 3 Platies Pregnant?

and here I thought BUMP was some kind of Lost joke b/c they would do that all the time whenever someone liked a theory on the boards...Now I get it DOH! It's just a board thing to bump your topic to the top ;) Anywho, I posted this forum while ago b/c I couldn't tell if mine was prego or not, but when you look at before and after pics, I'm sure she was prego and all the fry were eaten or i've never found any of them...Anyway, sorry for the blurry pics too. I'll see if I can take more b/c she looks fat again like that and I've got her quarantined as my Zebra Danio was buggin the crap outta her last night which is rare as he has never gone near my platies before...

So I cant exactly get pictures but thats what I got for now. Can anyone tell me if they are pregnant, and if so, when do you think theyd let it all out? Or do you need better pictures

1 doesn't appear pregnant, 2 does, but not very far in, 3 doesn't look pregnant either, and 4 looks slightly pregnant, maybe one week in. But 4 is another picture of 3, am I right? -_-

You have males and they aren't breeding...you're the envy of many, many over-run Livevearer keepers now.

Annastasia,

Thanks for the reply on mine!! I couldn't find Hornwart at any of the fish stores near me so I got some kind of other plant and she has been hiding it like crazy this morning, so I hope when I get home from work I find fry :)

Thanks again!

Brian

You're welcome! Hornwort was just a suggestion, it wasn't like THE plant to get. I'm glad you found one that works for you. :) I hope you will have babies, and post if you do!

Ahhh I just want them to have fry. Yea the 3rd and 4th pic are the same fish. Its just they all got like this over the time of a day or so and dont normally look like that. In person, they all have that dark area and are fatter than usual. I have a brine shrimp hatchery, seperate tank for the fry, and a grow out tank for them already soooo im gonna be upset if nothing happens.

Well, they'll always have a gravid spot, pregnant or not. It's just when it gets darker that you can tell. The second one is your best bet for fry. How many males/females do you have?

Haha. If you have room, try adding another male and 1-2 females. Then you will be sure to get fry.

Its a 10 gallon, overstocked as is, I wish I could get more. Im working on my 29 gallon, thats where I was going to add mature fry, but my African Butterfly fish is going to be a problem.
