If there is not enough food, they end up dying. Rotting bodies and dissolving shells end up creating loads of ammonia. I, personally, would try to clean most of the tank up, though. However, if you were to get a fish to deal with the problem, you might end up losing all of the snails. :P

What fish do you have?

I would not put more food in, since that would end up doing the same thing that dead bodies would... increase ammonia. And, in the end, they'll reproduce soon enough, so you might be better off removing a few every now and then. Try some zucchini or spinach. It'll end up feeding the snails, and you can remove any that get stuck. ;)

Also, type a bit slower, if that is what's causing all the typos. :P
