I've been told a few times that green spotted puffers can't be kept with other fish, but whilst reading through some other posts on this site i noticed that some people seem to keep them in mixed tanks. What are peoples experiences with this?

Hi Kajones

I had my GSP for nearly two years now and he has never touched any other Fish in my Tank. Mind you he has always been the smallest Fish in the tank. When I started of with a 55 gal tank I had him together with Orange Chromides and Knight Gobies. Now he is in a 150 gal tank together with Cat Sharks, Monos, Archers, Jade Goby and one Green Chromide. The poor thing even gets knocked out of the way by the Cat Sharks and the Monos take the food out of his mouth. I find in general each Puffer has his own individual character.

They can be kept in freshwater, brackish or marine

search for Arius jordani to find out more about them

Hi

When you buy Columbian Cat Sharks in your LFS at about 2 inch they are kept in fresh water, but for them to do well they need Brackish Water or even Marine. I keep mine at 1.010 and I will eventually take the salinity up to 1.015. I really don’t think they would be happy in Fresh Water.
