So I have a tank full of guppy fry + the odd water molecule having housed 4 pregnant female guppies away from the community tank in a guppy tank for the first time.
Thing is - there are about 4 consequative birthfulls in there and they all look like girls!

so my question is
do all guppy fry start looking the same and then they differentiate as they get older or have I really got all girls?

The oldest are begining to colour up and have black tail and body colour etc but fins all look female to me.

Thanks for reading.

All fry do look female in the beginning. They will eventually develop a gonopodium, and some more coloring. 3 months is a common age for that to happen, but some are early and some are late.

If you look very closely, you may be able to notice a slight difference in the anal fins...the male's will be a little more pointy shaped. It's very hard to see though, and something I probably learned from watching my fry too much, for too many years... :p

yeah, I am spending hours looking at the anal fin of these guppy fry - and they all look the same - all look female. Should just give up and wait - but hey - if I just look a little longer...... and a little closer...... and a little harder...... damn these varifocals!

Thanks for the answers.

I was the same with mine , kept staring lol. As it turned out I had 7 girls and 3 boys and they are beautiful 4 months old and in the main tank now.
