i had 3 archers for a while, all might have been jaculatrix, but two were for certain and one could be chatareus. Anywho, as 3 fish they would occasionally come together, usually they would swim solo or double or the dominant would take turns on chasing one of the other guys. Not hyper aggressive toward each other but rarely school.

I added a 4th archer last week and it took about 3 days and then bam, all of the sudden they do not leave each others side. All four cruise the tank together. So for me at least, 4 was the magic number.

Glad things have worked out!

I remember seeing a school of archers at the Princess of Wales building in Kew many years ago. They were following each other in a long line, and it was really neat to see them swimming like that. I've usually kept archers singly, which is often easier, but archers kept singly do tend to be a bit shy.

Cheers, Neale

thanks neale, best part is they seem to like to race each other. They all gather at one end of the tank, and then bolt to the other end, quite fun to watch.
