Hey, I'm in a bit of a bind... I have a 10g tank (18x12x12) and inside my hood it's a maximum of 17" in width! So i have to get a 15"/14w tube and a reflector. My problem is, i've only seen either 12" or 18" reflectors online...

Does anyone know if it's possible to get an 18" reflector and snip a couple of inches off the end? :flex:
I'm not too sure how thin the aluminium is, so I don't know how easy it would be to cut!

Thanks

its quite thin, you could do it with a hacksaw, have to be carefull not to bend it or anything

The best thing to use for cutting reflectors is a pair of tin snips which can be bought quite cheaply from a good tool shop.

Thanks very much for the replies both of you. I've got a pair of snips at home...

Seems crazy that they would make control units for 15" (14w) tubes and not make reflectors for them!

One other thing... anyone that has an 18" reflector... how far apart are the slots for the tube hooks? Might need to drill some new holes in my hood!
