Aquascaping

I've seen lots of very nicely aquascaped fish tanks in shops and in forums/on the internet. I think my tank looks a bit dull, (I have seen a lot worse) but I'm interested in a nice natural look with lots going on. Can anyone give me any tips or advice on how to go about planning a look? How do you know what to buy and where to put it?!

in my opinion planted tanks look the most natural

what to buy and where to put it comes down to what you want the finished thing to look like

I may well do that if/when I can get a project underway!
