How much would a 2ft x 1ft x1ft aquarium weigh after it has been filled with water????

I worked out that its 56.63 litres which is 12 uk gallons

Would be ok to put on a desk???? or am i risking it

Not on a desk unless it's well supported.

I have a tank the same dimensions, which is 15US gallons.

It's sitting on some dorm furniture, but it's a chest of drawers that's well supported with good frame work.

Also remember even if the desk can hold the weight without collapsing... if it bows in the middle there is a strong chance of a stress crack in the glass in the bottom of the tank. Personally I wouldn't risk putting a tank on anything that wasn't designed to hold an aquarium or wasn't thoroughly inspected and probably reinforced to make it strong enough.

ok i just want a smallish tank that i could use for breeding with.....if its in my room then mum can't grumble at me :D i want a tank that has a light unit in it. I was going for a Tropiquairum 55 or fluval uno 500 would these be whey too big to raise fry up in?

Thx for your replies btw

Easiest way to test it is to get a adult man to stand on the desk, if it feels solid enough it can hold the tank which weighs around 130lbs, if it feels unstable dont do it.

Hmmm... Finally, a use for my dad! My 18g's on my desk at the moment, but there's no water or anything and the plan is to reinforce my toybox with laminate flooring and floor insulation and put it on that. Although that means making sure there's nothing in the toybox and moving my hamsters around....
