Hi Guys,

Just joined the site, and finding it very helpful already was wondering if anyone knows where I could purchase a T5 lighting system without paying ridiculous prices my Arcadia has just packed up which I have only had for just over 2 years.

I have found out today from a friend of mine it will be cheaper to replace the whole unit instead of sending the unit back to be repaired with all the costs involved of senidng the unit it back and the new parts so have decided to have a look around at the moment am using my old T8 system but need to replace the T5 fairly quick other wise my corals will start to suffer.

Any help would be great.

:hi:

Have you looked on eBay or UR they quite often have bargains on there :good:

As you are new to the site, I shall warn you, We are all rather nosey and love to see new tanks, so how about letting us know what you've got and of course some photos would be nice :fun: :snap: ;)

Cheapest option would be fixing the unit yourself, which usually isnt very hard depending on the unit and whats wrong with it. You'd usually be talking around £20, simple case of opening it up and swapping over the ballasts inside :).

Any more details? There's some guides online to fixing various units :).

I will second that, although when Trod says rather nosy, I would say really nosey.

We all are addicted to pictures too, we like asking for them aswell, can you tell.

Hi Guys,

Thank you for your replies had a look on ebay as you recommended and found some 4 tube T5 lights which fits the bill, new to all this Internet stuff and could not work out how to set us one of those paypal accounts.

They have a website which is http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/ has any one heard of them or could recommend there lights as they seem a really good price?

Thanks again for all your help once i get the gist of this computer lark I shall try to add some photos though my camera is a bit on the old side.

Wow, sick deal Les. Does each lamp have an individual reflector?

Hi,

There is one main reflector on the light I think you should be able to see this on there website.

Still working great very happy with it also bought one of there 1400L/H external filters last week was gonna use it as a back up filter but have now decided to use it as my main filter as it comes with a UV built in and my old tetra filter is alot smaller so dont need to clean it as much or so I hope anyway!

Did you check the kelvin rating on those tubes - marine white 10000  so you will certainly need good reflectors. Looking forward on hearing how this unbranded unit goes. Might be a way forward for me - although I would buy the higer rated tubes at 15000 and 20000K

And :hi: to TFF and where are those photos  and story of your tank

Seffie x
