I currently have a case of fin rot in my tank after adding a new fish last week, I was treating it with melafix, but now on recommendation I am treating it with melafix and primafix because the finrot appears to be bacterial.
I also added aquarium salt when I first added the melafix with a water change......when I next do a water change do I add aquarium salt just for the extra water I add, or for the size of the whole tank again (does the salt dissapear over time?)

Also if anyone knows....still not 100% but do you treat melafix and/or primafix for 7 days then do a water change.....or do a water change every day you treat it?

Thanks!!! :good:

Only add the salt for the water you add, as any marine keeper can tell you, water evaporates, salt doesn't. That's why they top up with fresh r/o water.

You'll want to do your water changes after the course of treatment, otherwise you'll just be diluting the medication if you to a water change every day.

Hope your fish get better soon. :good:
