Hello I was wondering is it okay to put clay pots in tanks? I wasn't sure if it would have clay residue? For my cichlids I wanted to put a couple in there. The pots are like what you'd use for plants. :dunno:

use them for all my cichlids... would be 100% success aswell but for some strange reason my salvini's would rather use th filter tray... dont actually use it but refuse to spawn with out it? also means while the rest just move small amounts of gravel back an forth, they annoying move all of it to 1end of the tank!
they have tank to their own for that reason, probly best tho :D

Hi Alicia, How did you make out with the treatment for illness of your ....Ram ? :)

Terra cotta pots as mentioned by others are safe to put in your aquarium , and aren't to bad on the eyes , They are essential to mine [ tank and eyes :p ]..I have 9 3" pots and 7 1 1/2 " pots in my 70 gal , I can never have enough caves , I've also added 3 1/2 coconut shells as well .

As with any thing you add to your tank just be sure it's clean . I've found boiling the easiet way to be sure , also the dish washer without detergent works well , as does a good rinse.

" whatever floats your boat ". :D

yea i have a clay pot in my tank, and like everyone else said, wash it before you put it in.

Hey Lucky,
Actually my rams were doing great until I left for spring break it was almost completely gone. I guess since I was gone the lack of water changes put them back to where they started. So I'm still medicating w/ melafix and pimafix and hopefully they will get back to normal soon :/ They all survived though. In about a week I think they should be fine :D
