I recently made a stop at the local pet store looking for plants. I have a 30 gallon tank. The store had houseplants for sale (cala lillies, ferns, and others) as submersible plants for the aquarium. To make it short....Can you use common house plants such as the Cala Lilly in an aquarium?

you can and they will survive.. but not indefinitely.. eventually they will die off. some plants that live in marshland are OK as they are found submerged naturally.. but do prefer the swing. wouldnt try cala lilly at all. besides that some houseplants will have pesticides and remenants of chemical feeds that should never come into contact with your fish.
