Hi

I would like to plant my aquarium heavely with various plants, I like straight vallis (vallisneria spialis) as it roots down pretty well and the fish dont touch it. What other plants would be suitable for tropical aquarium the temp is at 26'C and water is hard, currently dont have much light for the tank but will be better once my tropicals are moved to the hexangle tank.

I will be changing the light tube to Aqua glow when i can find the right size and wattage!!!

Any info would be great, my guppies like a heavely planted aquarium somewhere for the babies to hide!!!

Anybody have any links of on line plant shops as my LSF's have had quite crappy plants in lately (mushy) and full of snail eggs!!!

Bigfish,
There are many varietie of plants that will look good in the tank. Most swords are pretty hardy as I have a couple of varieties in my tank. Long grasses are good for tanks too. Since you are wanting to find plants for babies I would say get some short or dwarf grasses as they are pretty dense and make good cover.

Here is a link to a place in the UK that sells plants on line. I wish there was a place state side that had such a good selection

Bigfish,

The plant supplier suggested by LesGerber is very good. Just got a 100 plant collection from them for £13! :D

Great selection for all different needs and all plants are doing well in my hard water. Also supply a plant food package called 'pro aqua plant' which so far seems to work well in giving the plants the nutrients they need. Lasts for three months and you get one free if you order a large plant collection.

highly recommended and a pleasure to deal with

you may want to try anubius, and sag plants as well easy to grow and control
