hello

i have bought a plant that is made up of fabric. its so life like that people who came and saw it thought it was a real plant. becoz its movement underwater is so real, unlike plastic plants where they looked stiff and fake.

however, my worry is that will the fabric plant be a host to bad bacteria or germs for my fish? should i changed back to the conventional plastic plants?

if it was harmful to fish i'm sure they wouldn't sell them, but however with all tank equipment you need to wash and clean first.

Those are the kind of plants I use because with the cichlids I keep you can't have real plants.

Like mentioned, they wouldn't be selling them for aquariums if they weren't ok.

Hi eugene :)

Like everything else in your aquarium the plants could harbor bad germs. But they will also provide a home for the beneficial bacteria that are important to have in your tank.

These "silk" plants are often lovely to look at and I know that they are popular among people who do not have live plants in thier aquariums.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. :D Just enjoy them!

hey, i got them there really good, silk plants, they dont tear the fishes fins (bettas)
there easy to care for, and all u have to do is rinse them under hot tap water and then put them in,

I've had bad luck with silk plants. Eventually green or brown algae grows on them and you cannot get them clean because it is inside the weave of the fabric. I wouldn't invest a lot of $ in them until you see how they work out in your tank.
