Aquarium Literature

I have quite a few books, mostly acculated from charity shops and second hand bookshops... but one of the very few I bought new was the first volume of the Baesch Aquarium Atlas series. In my opinion, the Baensch book is much better than the Axelrod mini atlas, which is otherwise similar. What I like about Baensch is the level of detail and the way it is quite obviously based on experience rather than re-hashing stuff from other books. There are lots of comments from the author about personal experience of a certain fish, or his opinion of the animal in captivity, and so on.

Cheers,

Neale

I haven't actually read any... but i planned to make one...
"In the year 2180... the entire surface world of the earth has been turned into desert. Nuculear warfare devestated all but two countries... The underground empire, And Neo-Atlantis. Neo-Atlantis started as a research facility for scientist. But once the surface world started to fight, it soon became refuge to many."

and so on. then... basicallyu the undeground empire makes some earthquake device that attacks neo atlantis, causing their experiments on fish ect to go crazy. Thus, we have mutated 30 feet dragon gobies, large angel fish (tamed to ride), bala sharks (and people are small enough to fit in their mouths o_-) and so forth. ]

But i take it you mean an informitive aquatic book. There;s some magazines at pets not so smart. that's all i have seen.

I have lots of relatively small books - nothing like Baensch or Axelrod - but I find them all a bit irritating in lots of ways. You get more up-to-date info from the internet (as long as you can distinguish the good stuff from the rubbish)

The Tropical Fishlopedia by Mary Bailey and Peter Burgess is good on general tank maintenance and fish health, as is the A-Z of Tropical Fish Diseases and Health Problems by the same authors plus Adrian Exell

I also have a few second hand books including an interesting one printed in 1964 called All About Guppies and I like The Complete Encyclopedia of Tropical Fish by Esther J Verhoef-Verhallen because it discusses fish behaviour and the best tank size etc from her own experience - but it has been (badly) translated from Dutch and you need to know the latin names of the fish.
