hello, i just bought a light for my fishtank, the last one shone white, the new one shines pink, will this hurt my fish?
the girl at the shop said she lost the packaging for it and if its the wrong kind i can take it back, but if its fine for my tank then i dont mind that it's pink.

No, it wont hurt your fish, but it might not be a good idea if you have any live plants in your tank.

Sounds kinda like the Arcadia Original Tropical bulbs, if you take the tube out it should say one it near the endcap bits :).

They are great for fish, I quite like the pink colour, and is pretty good for plants too.

They don't appear as bright to our eyes as the white tubes, but for plants they are pretty much just as good if you felt like getting any.

I guess you learn something new everyday. :fun:

Yep :D.

The pinkish tubes just appear darker to us, because more (compared to white tubes) of the light they put out is of wave lenghts that out eyes don't pick up as well. Plants photosynthetic pigments can still use these wavelengths though :).
