Hi all

Great to meet you all, new to forum and needing your expert help

I have algae inside my aquarium heater does this mean that its leaking and can no longer be used?

How can I check its OK?

Thanks in advance for all of your help

If you algae inside it the protective layer must have become damaged and is no longer safe to use. Bin and get a new one. Sorry for a bleak outcome but when it comes to electricity and water the safe guards are tehre for a reason.

HI the coils are inside individual glass tubes and its those that have algae in, the individual glass tubes with the filaments in are inside the outer glass cover and there is no algae or moisture inside of the outer glass tube. If you get what I mean.

So I m wondering if uts just condesation inside the filament tubes that has caused the algae as I can find a crack or a leak anywhere and its still working.?

Thanks for the fast reply

Just ask yourself, are your fish worth £12?

yup, being electrocuted is definitely not fun. If you dont believe me then you could try heating the tank with a hair dryer :)
