Aquarium Design - Looking For Inspiration

I've got a 12 gallon tank that I'd like to do something special with. I love the "nature style" / "amano" tanks but the upkeep on the "grass" that covers the substrate would kill me. I don't want to have to constantly prune. I'd like to have a sort of minimalist looking tank with a few choice plants and maybe a rock and lots of swim room. I'm trying to get ideas, but aside for the amano style tank sites, I'm not coming up with much.

Can anyone suggest anything?

You want a minimalistic 'amano' tank? That's a bit of an oxymoron to my tiny brain so I don't quite get what you're after.....

i like some of the amano ones that have a lot of swimming space, not crammed with plants and wood.
