Hi everyone ,I am new here and I came home from work this evening and sat down on the couch to rest for a few minutes. As I was checking out the veiw of my 30 gal. and saw this lump at the bottom of my intake tube to the aquaclear 30. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!! My little african dwarf froggie was upside down and his one foot was caught in the fine slotted end of the intake tube. What a terrible death my little frog suffered. I hate aquaclear products and I will never use them again. They should have designed a filter so something this tragic would have not happen to anyone. I feel I should sue them for damages! I'm so upset! Life sucks!

Oh well... These things do happen unfortunately :(

Next time, see whether the fish is safe from the filter, if not, put plants around it, or in a worst case scenario, cut a stocking up to size and put it around the strainer/intake tube.

Did it ever occur to you that the frog died Then got sucked into the filter? A healthy frog should have been able to swim away from the filter suction. IMO

I thought the same thing. Once they die, they are likely to be carried over to the suction tube. Have had this happen with ill fish. Sorry for your loss :(

I had a couple fish that were sucked to the filter, but they had died before. If that was the case for your frog, it may at least give you some piece of mind that he didn't suffer! Sorry for your loss.

RIP to the little froggy. I agree --- it's highly doubtfull it's the filter's fault.

Everywhere you read about keeping frogs tells you to put tights (pantyhose) around the filter to prevent their legs getting caught. I personally never had a problem with my frogs but for future this is the way to prevent that happening.

And sorry for your loss, i know they have a lot of personality and you can grow quite attached to them!

Thank You! I appreciate your sympathy.I feel really bad that I did not think before putting him in harms way with a dangerous situation. It never occurred to me that the frog would be in any danger. He seemed fine the first week I had him. I would turn off the light for the aquarium and leave the light on in the other room . That left just enough for me to watch him come out and play for hours. I thought the fact that the info i read online suggested that they(african dwarf frog) have to go to top of tank every few hours for air. It staed that this frog had to reach the top of the water for that reason. So when i found him lifeless and hanging upside down last evening I thought it meant that if the siphon tube held him down long enough he probably drowned.
