has anyone had problems with the intake on the 300, being too strong?......i have found a few little tetras and rasboras wrapped around the intake.......i have since modified a sponge to wrap around the bottom of the tube............tks in advance........just wondering if this was a common problem

 I have an Aquaclera 300 in my 46 gallon tank and I had no probelm with it. The tank has young mollies, guppies, platies and neon tetras (look at my signature to see why else) and so far no fish has been sucked up. I had that probelm in the past, but to aviod any fish from getting near the intake pipe, I took a plastic ball used as bird toys, cut a hole into the top and botton of it and secured it around the pipe. ;)

I also have an AC300, and I agree the intake is pretty strong, but I've never had a fish get "stuck" on it.

Mine is pretty well surrounded by plants, though.

wrapping the sponger around the intake was a good idea. You can also poke a hole in an aquaclear foam pad and slip that over the intake.

I wouldn't be surprised if these fish were dead, or weak, when they got stuck.

I made a filter cover out of plastic canvass. I tied it with fishing line, and used aquarium silicone to bone it to the uptake on my Aquaclear 200 and Mini. I did it because my african dwarf frog got in a tragic accident with the tube. :(

My tank was running for less than 24 hours...and a zebra danio already got sucked up and died...bought a cheap fish net...cut it out and put a rubber band on it...seems to be working..but i dont know how much dirt is going to get stuck on it -_-
