yo, this aqua bid is it any good, good prices but i cant se ehow they would ship a fish from thailand to australia and it not die or be very damaged, anyone baught from there and had it shipped, if so did the fish arrive ok etc etc, and anyone know how they ship them?
i dont wanto buy a beautifull betta only to find out i kiled it by trying to ship it over to australia from thailand :S

I'm in a similar position. Previously bought one from Bettaman and although was packaged perfectly I still felt sorry for the little fella in that tiny bag (which I know is how they are shipped by most if not all breeders!)

From what I've read if you do buy from say Thailand they would ship it to a contact in Germany (for European customers) and then shipped on from there to UK etc.

Would be interest to know peoples experiences too.

I have ordered from AB a few times now. I can say thay the whole transaction is just like ebay. With the only difference being that there is a middle man who handles the fish as a go between. In my last 3 Transactions the fish have all arrived healthy and well packaged in 3 days. Only prob with the UK at the moment is trying to get any response from the german transhipper, does nto reply to any messages atm.

Once Kevin(kgbettas) is back up and running I will request that they be sent thru him for any future orders I place. As my 1st ever order from Ram_91 came thru kevin.

So, you can actually buy a betta from across the ther side of the world and it still comes safe?
hhmmmm.... Gives me an idea!!!! :)

Yep, but expect to pay over £60-100 as a starting point depending on the original cost of the betta.

I've gotten one betta from a Thailand breeder through AquaBid. He was really expensive because of, as already mentioned, the transhipper (ie, middleman) fees. Now, I'm in the US, so maybe the timing and stuff is different, but it's a day from Thailand to the transhipper here, than she takes care of the fish (water changes in a bowl etc) until she ships him out, usually a day or so later, and it's a day from her to me. He got here perfectly fine. A bit pale (they almost always lose a bit of color in shipping because of stress - in a few days they color right back up), but otherwise in great shape. If you get a fish shipped (from ANYwhere), though, do make sure you open the package in a DIM room and leave it that way for a while. They've been in blackness for at least 24 hours - their eyes need time to adjust to the light. Anyhow, he was just fine. Ate the same night, even.

(Ironically, one of my bettas directly from a breeder in my same country didn't handle the stress well and chewed up a bunch of his fins during shipping. Apparently fairly common for them to do this...)

oh kool, seems pretty safe then to buy one cept bit expenive :p but thats ok
