Hi, I'm new to this website so bare with me.

I'm starting an aquarium (tropical) in the next 2 months and have seen the Aqua One tank (Model 620) in silver that looks the part. Has anyone got an Aqua One tank? Are they any good?

Also I have been into a local aquatics shop in the North East (Billingham Aquatics), they said they would advise me when to add fish and test the water so the tanks eco system starts correctly.

Are there any websites that give a good run down on different types of fish available (Haven't had a good look around these parts yet) and the fish that like each others company and don't massacre each other?

Thanks

I have one ( mine says Atman but it is the same) and it's a nice little tank. The filter is adequate and has more media than most for this size tank. You might want to hang a string down the outlet to quieten it though.

I would recommend you buy your own test kits and do a fishless cycle - just search this forum -but if you are too impatient then a couple of platies would be you best starter fish IMO.
The fish index gives a lot of info but what have you seen that catches your eye?
Thet tank is only two foot long so fast swimmers & fish over 3" (talking adult size) are out. The exception is abristlenose which gets to 5" (ish) but isn't much of a swimmer.
work on about 20" of adult fish length which would allow a shoal of pentazona barbs, 5 harlequins & a couple of platies and still give room for a bristlenose or 3 small cories. Whatever you chose you need to build up gradually , most beginner problems are caused by rushing &/or overstocking. If in doubt just ask.

Yes ,my little and first tank was an aqua 620. They are easy to overstock and I would not ,go by one fish to the litre, as the width gives very little swimming room.
They are not easy to clean round the corners once you get algae so watch where to put the tank.
It should be in a good shaded draft free position although some on here manage them in front of windows. Guess shops can too.
Mine took a long time to cycle and the other problem I found was the white wool filters smell if left too long, so get rid of this once established or replace.
I love the noodles as I call them as once they colonise the bacteria they work a treat. No Nitrite spikes etc.
Good luck and enjoy the hobby.
It's a good starter tank.
