Aqua One 1050 External Filter Help

Hi All

First post here, been lurking for a while.

Just upgraded from a 48 litre tank to a 180 litre aqua one Regency tank which came with a Aquis 1050 external filter (£100 the lot from ebay!!)

The pump is making a loud wuring noise, how do i stop this?

Possibly trapped air or more likely the impeller on it's way out - get some spares in before it breaks

hi not 100% but sounds like you could have air in the filter never used that model but just try make sure theres no air in the pipes and filter before turning it on

If the water flow is fine and it noisey, it might be trapped air. Just hold the filter base and tilt it side to side slowly and it should give off air bubbles in the tank from trapped air.

Thanks for the replies

If i move the filter some bubbles come to of the spray head, i have also noticed a small crack in the impeller could this be causing it? I have ordered a new impeller.

It is probably a combination of the two. Once you have the new impeller in, if it still makes noise, it'll be trapped air. Once you get all the air out of the filter, if the air comes back, consider applying a layer of Vaseline to all seals (from the outside, once the filter is running).
