Given that I barely ever visit the marine side of this forum, being a freshwater keeper, this is a rare occasion where I'm "double posting" in both section's hardware board in the hope of getting a response...

Had these on my watchlist for a week or so...

I'm drawn to their very low power consumption (3-8W) and the adjustable flow through a voltage switch on the transformer (2000-5000lph), as a way of getting more current in my 5-footer containing riverine fish, to supplement ~4300lph (in theory, but unlikely) of filtration provided by an APS 2000EF and Fluval FX5.

It just so happens that it was a post from SeffieUK that made me aware of these a while back, where I found a good home for my Magnum8 powerhead, that may have been too powerful for some of my riverine fish.

Has anyone got any experinces with them, good or bad?

No experience of them as you know and cant actually think of any of the salties that run one - but aqua medic are a name to trust imo

ps

magnum, is doing it's job :good:

Despite very little feedback out there, I decided to bite the bullet and order one, albeit I found them on offer at the Aquacadabra site (£10 cheaper than on the ebay auction)...

I like the very low electric useage (<8W) and the fact the flow can be adjusted between 2000 and 5000 lph, so it gives a fair bit of scope for finding the "sweet spot" where my numerous Barilius and my two Synodontis brichardi can get current without overly-stressing any tankmates who may not be so keen. Having said that, I do intend to finally re-juggle fish between my 240l and 560l tanks this week while on holiday and so the fish not so keen on flow will be moved inside to the Rio240.

Glad the Magnum is doing the job, Seffie!

I would be interested to read your review of this pump, any chance of you writing one?
