My friend came over and gave me a present today. An Aqua Fern. I don't have real plants in my tank yet because I wanted to get a handle on the fish first. So now I have this live plant and I have no clue what to do with it?!? Can I just stick it int the tank and thats that? Assistance please!

ps..I think its a borneo aqua fern

Eek..! I just read that this is not a true aquatic plant. I that true? What should I do with it now?

If you have a HOB filter stick it in there with the roots submerged and the leaves out of the water, I have a terrestrial plant in my HOB filter and it's growing great. :good:

Yep, if it's this stuff, it will just die.

If you want to keep it, you will need a humid environment with enough (but not too much) light.

They do pretty well in dart-frog tanks that have a plant light.

edit: HOB filter sounds like a good idea, so long as it gets enough light there...I doubt the ambient room light will be enough or in the right spectrum, but under aquarium lights would be great.
