Fish don't need a light on their tank. Room light is normally sufficient for them. We have lights on aquariums for the live plants and so we can see the inhabitants.
If you use a desk lamp then a normal globe will suffice. You can also get a proper aquarium globe and fit it into a desk lamp, just get one the same length.

Since you have live plants you most definitely need a light, all plants except some low-light species (java moss, java fern, etc.) will benefit from having a light on them. I'm sure a desk lamp would be fine, except make sure that the wattage in the light is not too crazy. Well I can't really tell the size of the tank but It's probably a 2.5 - 5 gallon. It would be best to have a 10 - 20 watt light in there and have it kept on for 10 - 12 hours a day. Your fish won't mind it, they are used to having a photo period (sunrise to sunset). What I do is turn my light on when I wake up and turn it off before I go to bed, or earlier because I don't always go to bed at the same time.

P.s. If those are fake plants you won't need a light except for viewing. Another thing, if they are fake, those are some very realistic fake plants :p
