I been wondering how good the aqua clear hob filters are, if i get enough positive comments ill buy one for my 30g.

I have 11 of them running on my tanks right now. I have a box in the closet with other brands. It's the only hob I'll spend my money on. I have an old ac 200 that has been running with the same sponge for 7 years. It's the closest hob to a canister as far as flexabilty of media is concerned.

I run them to near death, intentionally torturing new ones to make sure they run properly. I've run them next to other makes in the same tank, others choke. I extend the intakes, & do 50% water changes weekly with them running. Other brands die, that's why they are in a box. :)

Listen to Tolak, those filters are quite good, and you can be flexible with what media you want to run. Most others are restricted when it comes to media choices.

Just watch the little fish around the intake. Small fish can easily get stuck in the intake as my poor departed Peppered Cory can attest. (RIP) I solved this by cutting a slit in a block of Aqua Clear 20 foam media and pulling it over the intake pipe.

Aquaclears are the best hob if you ask me.. I don't like whisper or penguin.. and have never had any others..

Aquaclear is the way to go.
