Right well, I have a 48l tank with a heater, filter,Oxygen thing for the filter, thermometer, gravel and decorations.
(I was planning to get some live plants too.)
This Saturday I am going to get 6 tetras(not sure what type yet)
And then at some point in the week after that a betta fish.
Could I add 1 apple snail as well? And how would this affect my tank?

1 Adult apple takes 2.5 gallons, they are very messy but adding 1 should be fine :good:

Thanks, great to hear that! I have set the temperature at 24C is that okay for them? :)

I would not put apple snails in anything under 10 gallons, because if it dies just after you go to bed, it will probably wipe out all the other stock in the tank before you wake up in the morning. Also, in my experience, they do move about quite a lot.

24 C should be fine.

According to your other thread, you've only just got the tank. You won't be able to get fish (or snails) for a few weeks yet as the filter needs to be cycled first. Have you read the link you were given in your other thread yet? If you get fish without cycling the filter first you are in for an awful lot of water changes or the fish will suffer. This is what you will need to do if you get fish without doing a fishless cycle first http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/224306-fish-in-cycling/

Just to warn you that adding filter start is not doing a fishless cycle as some shops would have you believe.

I thought you could leave the tank for a week and then it would be fine?
If the filter start isn't doing the fishless cycle what will?
I'll have a think about the snail then...

What will do a fishless cycle is adding liquid ammonia and waiting until both ammonia and nitrite levels drop to zero 12 hours after adding the ammonia. The details are in the link in your other thread.
Filter start is one of several 'bacteria in a bottle' products that often claim to cycle your filter instantly. They don't. The best you can hope for with them is that the cycle will be slightly shorter. If you add fish a week after adding it, you will end up doing a fish-in cycle, and that involves a lot of water changes to keep the fish healthy. Using ammonia to cycle the filter for a few weeks before getting fish may leave the tank looking boring, but at least you won't have to do all those water changes.

Thanks for all the advice guys, really helped!-oh and I did read through that link in the last thread, only It was very confusing, so thank you for breaking it down for me! :)
