I read on ebay that you can't keep apple snails with any of the above, ihaven't read this anywhere else. Just a rumour or more to it?

Well I know that my Rosy Barbs will eat, or try to eat, any kind of snail that goes in my tank.

barbs will screw with the snail.....catfish and plecos are not reccomended because they are also bottom feeders like the apple snail, but i suppose if you have a large enough tank you should be alright. also the pleco eats algae( so does the snail ) so only house the snail and pleco if you intend to add some algae wafers

depends what pleco... our L134 developed a taste for baby apple snails... big ones are fine though.

also depends what barbs :) our cherry barbs are fine but our black rosy barbs loved snail antenni :/

Seems like the pleco would get ticked off with the snail and just....well who knows

the snails dont eat much algae anyway - very over rated for that purpose...

we had a 110l tank with well over 150 baby apple snails in it and the algae was still present...

no tank inhabitants should be expected to live entierly off algae - they will all need their own diet and a varied one at that.

Hmm thanks, I just wondered if they would be aggressive I have a 35gal tank so It'd be ok if I got more although I'm not planning on doing so. ?And btw, i have 2 snails and I feed them lettuce however they are still great vs. algae.
