apple snail

im think of getting an apple snail but i have some java fern and anubias nana and im wondering if it would eat my plants

If it's anything like my apple snail, he will devour everything in sight.
Go for a trapdoor snail if you want something that won't eat your plants

http/applesnail.net Depends on the species. Most are plant eaters though a few aren't.

If they're anything like my apple snails, they shouldn't touch the two plants that you mentioned. I have quite a few apple snails in my 55 gallon, and they only nibble on two different plants. They have eaten the riccia, which grows like a weed, and they have eaten some stargrass.

There's always sliced vegetables weighed down in the tank, so maybe this is the reason for them not touching other plants such as my anubias and java fern.

hmm..maybe i should give it a try ..ill just have to keep them well fed..if it doesnt work out i give it back to my LFS

My snail enjoyed gnawing through the stalks of every single plant I ever added to that tank.
