i like both variaties of these apistos, but i would like peoples opinions because i would like them to be reasonably hardy and tolerant of a ph up 2 7.5

my ph is curently 7 and i can lower it if necessary

GH is 11

7.5 is ok for new worlds IMO. Most LFS keep their pH at a somewhat neutral level. But they would thrive in acidic conditions of a pH of 6.5.

7 is ideal or maybe 6.8 for captive bred fish and personally there is no sexier dwarf cichlids that a triple red cockatoo cichlid :p

if they are captive bred fish then either species will be fine. If they are wild caught then go for the cacatuoides as they are a little bit tougher.

Unless the tank is 3ft or bigger, only get 1 pr. If you have too many in the tank they don't breed as readily because the females will be arguing over territories.

if you have lots of hiding places then you can get 3 females and 1 male, but if you don't have many hiding places (plants, wood, rocks, etc) then just get 1 male & 1 female.
