Hi All

I have a pair of Apistogramma Borelli in the 54 litre tank but all the male does is hassle the female when in view. I have had them for about 9 months or more, the tank is heavily planted.

My question is do you think I could add a second female in a 54 litre or should I just leave it as it is, do not think the Male is doing any harm but I know its always hassling the female. From what I have seen the female has not gone a yellow colour ( I assume breeding) for several months now.

Thanks
Dave

Hi

Anyone have any opinions.

I know its best not to get another female due to tank size but was just wanting others opinions.

Thanks

I would say that your tank size may be the issue here and although it would be overstocking it slightly i would be adding another female to make it a trio, which usually works out better for most apisto species.

Another option may be to simply add more decor to break the lines of sight in the tank

Thanks for your reply.

Decor wise I am pretty well full, loads of plants, wood, coconut, its only when the female comes out into the open at the front of tank. Even when I let the plants grow hardly any room still an issue.

I know stocking wise probably a push but keep on top of maintenance, just wondering what aggression would be like if 1 female started breeding, would the other female be at risk?

Thanks
