Think these are cave spawners (google them and read about their breeding as I may be wrong). They will make a cave, or find a suitable one. My Apistos actually dug a pit below some mpoani wood and used that!

Give them a good varied diet and they will get strong and frisky.

They are easy to breed. Feed them well on frozen or live foods several times a day. Keep the water warm, 26-28C. Do regular water changes and wait. I use a ceramic flower pot that has been cut in half and put on its side to provide a cave. The bigger end is faced towards the front of the tank so you can see what is happening inside.
Once the fish are happy in their tank and well fed the male will start to display to the female. The female will go yellow (with black markings) when happy and get fat from the eggs in her. The adults will check out the tank and find a nesting site, usually under a rock or in a cave somewhere. Shortly after that they will lay some eggs on the cave wall. The eggs take a few days to hatch and the fry become free swimming a few days after that. The fry can be fed on newly hatched brineshrimp as soon as they are free swimming.
It is preferable to have an air operated sponge filter in their tank rather than a power filter.
