About to do water change of 20 litres, is api tap water conditioner super concentrated? Not used this brand before and apparently only need 0.7 ml, will 1 ml do the job and not overdose it?

Depends on if you are using buckets or a hose to perform your WC.

Buckets, treat the bucket amount; hose, treat for the entire volume of the tank.

I was going siphon out and siphon back in, so 1ml woul do it i guess?

The dose rate is 1 ml per 15 gallons/60 litres or 1 drop per gallon/3.8 litres. So 20 litres needs 5.2 drops or 0.33 ml.

I use buckets and add 2 drops per 7.6 litres

Also, get yourself a medicinal syringe or two to measure out your conditioner doses...they are marked in increments of ml, makes accurate dosing of conditioner fast & easy

Siphon from the tap or from a bucket?
From a bucket yes, I did 6 drops so should be fine, and thanks for your help everyone, will get that syringe too cheers.
Fish look very happy now too 😀

I may have understood, but why are you siphoning the clean water from the bucket to the tank?

Probably wrong but I was always told to double dose tap conditioner by LFS. I don’t do this, but I thought ide share anyway :)

Love it, that means you use twice as much, and they sell twice as much.

Jokes on them, I usually make note of whatever they say I need and either ask on here, or order it online instead

LFS sells check valves for £2 each

Went online and ordered 3 for £2 lol

Umm, I was using a jug to put clean water in but it's not that big a tank and i was disturbing the gravel and kicking up bits into the water, tried with the siphon and it seemed less disruptive? How do you do it?
Educate me lol

Well my tank is 50g which may make a difference but, I just designate 4 buckets as my fish buckets and fill them up, treat them, and just pour the water straight from the bucket into the tank

A benefit of that for me too is that, rift lake cichlids think it’s raining if you really chuck the water in, then hence think it’s changed season, and hopefully breed

Pour slowly and from at least 12 inches above the water line....that way the water going into the aquarium only bounced halfway the depth of the aquarium

(I use 1.5 and 5 litre bottles for my replaced water)
