Api Nitrite Test

I found the problem. I switched my email address from the Yahoo one to my work one and received 2 notifications overnight. The email domain that they came from is gmail.com. Over the year that I was inactive on the forum, I had received so much spam from someone with a gmail address that I had blocked that entire domain so any emails that were coming from here were blocked and never allowed through.

what size is your fish tank? I wanted to know how mch ammonia to put in my tank, ive bin told 5 ml and thats for my 29 gallon

Concentrations of ammonia vary thus meaning it may take more from one bottle than from another to raise it to 5ppm. From what I have seen, it generally takes about 1ml to raise 5 gallon to 5 ppm. Based on that, 5ml would be too much for your tank. Try runniing a 5 gallon bucket of water, add 1ml to it, swirl it around to mix it good and test to see what it gets you. A little math then will tell you what you need to add.

surely if 1ml raises 5gallons upto 5ppm, and I have a 29 gallon, it means I need more than 5ml?

You're right. Just got out of bed and my mind isn't working. Actually, 5ml should be just about right (based on 1ml for 5 gallon) as with displacement by substrate, decorations, etc. would mean you would have about 25 gallons of water (an inch of substrate removes about 1.5 gallons of water).
