Just checked my bottle, and theres definately no perfumes in there!

when buying your ammonia, give the bottle a very good shake, if it foams then it has additives, i.e. perfume etc.

And the bottle was white (I.e not see through) so can't do the bubble thing.

I would definately try and get some of the filter media from the other tank.
It will really speed things up.

also, anyone know anywere which sells a large range of fish tank lids.

the lid from mine wasnt very good (thin plastic) and had a few small cracks in it so ended up throwing it away and now unsure on were to buy them, only places ive seen havent had a lid thats a suitable size i.e its too big or too small.

Everyone's opinions may offer slightly. Really its simple. Just continue your cycle as you would have otherwise, just take the mature filter pad/sponge and shake it out in your water. Preferably near the filter intake. It should make the water really cloudy and introduce a lot of gunk into your perfectly clean tank. That funk contains millions of the bacteria you need, which will quicker seed in your filter and speed up your cycle.

if the filter pad or sponge fits your filter, you could also just place it straight in and leave it. Either way just continue with your cycle as advised and it should complete very quickly.
