Hi,

Has anyone ever used Tetra Easy Balance?

I'm having a bit of trouble with high nitrate results, could i use a low dosage of this to keep my fish safe while things calm down?

It sounds like it is meant to be used continuously, if i stop using it a month or two later will there be any problems?

Plecc.

Nitrates can be reduced by simple water changes. What is your nitrate reading right now?

'Easy Balance' is intended to replace water changes. Regular water changes, IMO, are the absolute best - and cheapest - way to keep a tank and its inhabitants healthy. Dilution is the name of the game here.

This of your water as the gene pool. Adding new stuff to the gene pool is a good thing, not doing so can have some less than favourable effects.

Cheers,
Squid

p.s. really had to try my hardest not to bring the Royal Family into this. Luckily I didn't.. phew

It works . . . but I'd never use it to replace water changes.

I used it once when I had nitrate readings of about 50-60 across several tanks and couldn't do a water change, and it brought the nitrates down to 5. I think it also buffers pH?

Anyway. Water changes are the way forwards.
