I got an AFD the other day. I did a lot of research before I got it, so I think I have a good idea as to what feed them and all that other stuff. I tried to feed it a couple blood worms today. He didn't seem too inerested. Are they like bettas in that they may not eat for a little while after you get them or be pickey eaters? Do I need to cut them up into smaller peices? Has anyone put one in with a betta?

Yes, ADFs can take a few days to settle in before they eat.

Did he try to eat and spit the food back out, or did he just ignore it completely? If the former, then give him a day or two more to see how he adjusts.

Did you feed frozen or freeze-dried bloodworms? (Or live? -_-) He will probably be more willing to try frozen or live foods.

Keep us updated :)

Edit: ADFs are ideal tankmates for bettas, providing the betta is not overly agressive.

One of my ADFs was quite picky for awhile. I held the food in tweezers and waved it around the tank.

I use a turkey baster to feed my 2 ADF.

They both love freeze-dried tubiflex worms by Wardley. :)

Hi AlexsDaddy :)

I think they should be able to find their food if it is left on the bottom for them. I feed mine live blackworms and sometimes tubifex worms which I drop into their jar. When I go to clean it out, I seldom find more than a few living in the gravel, so they must be able to find them and eat them.

I also feed mine a product called "Frog and Tadpole Bites," which is a special food for them by HBH. I just drop a few of the tiny pellets in and they manage to find them. :D

How many blood worms sould I feed it at a time? Wait, no, untill the belly bulges slightly. I remember reading that, but don't remember where it said his belly is. Left side? Grrrrr. Curse my stupid memory!!!! By the way, thanks for all the info everybody.
