Just considering stocking for a large tank... and decided i deffo want a group of 6-8 angel fish... wondering if they would be fine (or not fine, if people have had bad experiences)with gourami and blue rainbow fish as they are in my considerations. Been tempted to get a shoal of gold barbs too, however trying to put myself off them and keep the stocking simple(ish) larger shoals, few species is what i want, but struggle to contain myself when i have a look around. But anyways, just asking what you stock with yours and anyone got some good ideas for me.

Also just added a smallish shoal of zebra danios (15 of the) today as a base to make sure the tank is fine befor spending money on it, as it is not my tank and i'm just maintaining it. The tank size is 300cm x 50cm x 60cm, so is around 900lt.

Angels and rainbows are often kept together with good results, gouramis are also usually ok if space is sufficient.

On this occassion I think the three just about have space to stay away from each other if they don't intend on getting on :p

Not really my kind of stocking if I'm honest especially for a tank this size but if i had to Id go with something like:

12 angels
4 kissing gourami
3 gold gourami
3 opaline gourami
6 silver dollars
6 geophagus altifrons

Oh forgot 12 rainbows

The silver dollars are a no, as i hate them... just my opinion... they just eat and destroy everyting and get massive fast! I like the idea of geophagus altifrons but think they are a bit expensive... like i said it is not my tank, i'm just maintaining it, as it is in public display i need a simple, asthetically pleasing peacefull and easy to maintain set up... I would probs stick with dwarf gourami as i have quite a bit experience and have a probs 3m and 6female, maybes have some larger gouramis later like golden, as i like them.

I am really growing on the geophagus altifrons as i was thinking about a few pairs or trios of dwarf cichlids, columbian rams or various apistogramma. Has the geophagus altifrons got a common name to keep a eye out in the pet stores and how much you expect them to go for? anything for agression or sensitive to water parameters?
