Fish Crazy
I did my water changes yesterday on both of my tanks as usual and everything seemed fine. Go downstairs and am looking at the 30 gal tank and all of the fish seem to be sulking so I decide to test the water. Ammonia is at .5 Nitrites 0 nitrates 20 pH 7.6 temp 78. I had just added some new fish last week so thinking maybe I added too much at once. Just in case I decided to test my tap water. The readings I got on my tank exactly match what is coming from my tap, including an ammonia reading of .5.
I test the water in my tanks every week and this is not the norm. I tested this tank last week before adding the new fish & all levels were perfect so I am not understanding what is going on.
This is a newer tank but I cloned the 20 gal tank that has been established for almost a year. I also decided to test the stats on the 20 gal even though everyone seems to be acting fine. Ammonia is also at .5. No new fish have been added to this tank in a couple of months.
Should I try doing a water change with bottled water to remove the ammonia? I tried calling the water department here but they have no idea what I am talking about. Tried asking for someone technical but they are all gone for the day.
Not sure what to do at this point.
