hi all,

is there anyone on this site who or knows of anyone that has succesfully installed a webcam in one of their tanks?

i may want to put one in but i have no idea how to do it and what im going to need!

TIA for any help.

I assume you mean in ther water.

Perhaps theres some cases like the make for cameras to allow them to go under water.

It would just be a case of making it water proof.

oh right, would the cam need to be connected to the pc all the time, i was thinking of writing a journal for the tank and making the cam available 24/7. how would i do this?

Your PC would need to be on and webcam on all the time you want to show the video of it.

Im not sure what software you would require to allow the webcam to show realtime video online though.

Can find plenty of cases fr cameras, but nothing for webcams.

Perhaps one could be modified, or even make you own out of acrylic and use aquarium selant to waterproof it.

you can use programs witch will direct it to a website! you pay for the program ect ect ill get the name

also a few websites! www.earthcam.com or co.uk cant rember

its quite simply to setup! not too sure on putting a cam in the tank! maybe hang it over the side! i thort about doing this!!
ill try find a few sites n program names! if you pm me your msn addy we can ave a chat about it

Would it not be easier and cheaper to put the cam outside the aquarium, i've done it a few times whith my web cam and it looks fine.Surely algae would eventually cover the lens?
