As title stated really......I've done some digging on the interwebs and seem to find that they are fine as long as they are in groups.

Anyone with experience of or good knowledge of to point me in the right direction? This is within a 210'ish litre tank btw.

the tetras will be fine but the betta wont like it as they prefer to be solitary, maybe a few shrimp/snails but anything else will stress the betta although some people will say they did it and the betta was fine. i tried it and it just hid and i never saw it.....

Were talking a male betta that lives with clown loach, keyhole cichlids and guards guppy babies here!

Well, I tried (the schooling fish) Rasboras in a 10-gallon tank with my female betta and they completely ignored each other EXCEPT during feeding time. They all fought for the food and I feared my betta would loose an eye over it. Also, at the time she had terrible horizontal stress lines on her. I took those schooling fish out and she's now alone and with a bit of IAL, now had the vertical breeding lines. She seems happier than ever.

Personally, I think bettas are best off alone or if in a big enough tank, possibly with some pygmy cories. But, you know your betta than we do. Each fish is different in their tolerance level.

Aye, it is a fairly big tank we're talking about and we seem to have developed a routine of feeding time for the clowns and co. and the betta stays out of the way (he has his own planted section with his coconut house) and he comes out when things have calmed down for his.

Sounds like you already know the answer to your question. Add your tetras and enjoy your new fun little fish! :)

Just wanted confirmation, need something to fill the top (very empty section) of my tank. But ta for the help! :good:

I have kept a betta and neon tetras together ( group of 10 ), never again. Personaly, I will never keep a Betta with any kind of tetra no mather what.

Sorry Mattlee, I think you are wrong in saying Bettas are solitary.

Hiya, nice to see one more someone who stands to say that betta's can be mixed happily. :good: Shame about your tetra experience though. What went wrong?

I'm basically just looking for a large bunch of small fish that will group up and ignore the rest, do you have any ideas/suggestions?

Not neon tetras. They seemed to rip Mr. Wimpy Fish's fins to shreds! >.<; Of course, what do I know; I found the WCMM in the breeding trap, and him in the tank, so.... Well, anyways; not neon tetras; cardinal tetras are probably fine, though!! ^^; :) :D

I was hoping for black neons mainly or rummy nosed tetras as a second option.

I had flame tetra in with my guy and they were fine apart from once when the tetra went for a bit of flake and got his tail by accident. It came down to 1 second of chasing from the betta and the tetra left well enough alone after that
